What the Blog? is an Essentials video series discussing what’s next for sustainability, and how sustainable energy and green cities could help fight climate change. Editors Isabella Moulton and Martin Jacobsz bring you a snappy summary of articles directly from our expertly curated Sustainability Essentials Newsletters.

Our first article covering the latest sustainability news, features an article and accompanying video which highlights some of the latest advancements in agriculture and farming, which are pretty incredible to say the least! These innovations are meant to keep up with our world’s increased need for food, due to an expanding population. These technologies are also meant to reduce the size of the necessary workforce, forever changing the future of food. For example, there's a robot that can pick strawberries as gently as the human hand, and a machine that can shake trees and harvest up to 1200 trees a day, and that's just the start! Curious to know more about sustainable food and how we can improve climate change? Read our blog here.

The second article on the newest sustainability trends, explains that while flying cars have been a fantasy for a lot of us, and we still aren’t really sure what the future holds, it can still be fun to play pretend-- at least industry experts seem to think so. As such, researchers are looking at the role of flying cars in sustainable mobility. When comparing a hypothetical flying car to gasoline and electric run vehicles, it turns out that flying cars are actually more sustainable than gas-fueled cars, which means they could help fight climate change too- at least hypothetically! They aren’t more fuel-efficient than electric cars though--luckily we have more time to make our Jetsons reality come to life! Read the article here.
