While the role of women in tech and finance has made massive strides during the last years, the sector is still largely outnumbered by men. To celebrate the influential women the sector does have, we’re bringing you five incredible females making FinTech history. Who knows-- maybe FinTech won’t be a boys club for much longer.

1. FLORI MARQUEZ

When Flori was only in her mid 20's she co-founded BlockFi, a company providing banking products like credit services, to the crypto marketplace. BlockFi provides these products to markets that normally don't have access to basic banking services. She was inspired by her parents’ own experience living in 1980’s Argentina when there was very little economic security. Talk about turning a negative experience into a positive outcome.

2. AMANDA SPANN

Ever had a great idea for an app but were overwhelmed by the seemingly complicated process of getting it up and running? That's why Amanda created "The App Accelerator'', which helps non-techies leave their mark on the mobile app world by simplifying the process. This isn't her first rodeo either-- she's a serial entrepreneur and one powerhouse of a woman.

3. JEN YIP

Jen took managing personal finances to a whole other level--in fact, she launched her own finance platform called "Lunchmoney". The idea came from her own need to budget household expenses while working abroad with her husband. The system was then adopted by several family members, and eventually became the finance and budgeting platform we know today. Nicely done Jen--need is the mother of innovation after all!

4. DEVIE MOHAN

Devie knows Fintech-- though she often works behind the scenes by developing market and investment strategies as a marketing strategist, she is a vital force when it comes to guiding finance and tech companies. She also offers workshops, consultancy services and contributes her industry knowledge as a speaker and advisor-- in other words, she’s a FinTech dynamo.

5. ABIGAIL JOHNSON

At the CoinDesk Consensus conference last year, Abigail theorized on Bitcoin’s future role in the traditional financial world, which quickly brought attention to her leading role in the FinTech arena. Working at one of the country's largest and furthermore respected firms in finance, with her assistance Fidelity Investments has become the leader of not only the growing cryptocurrency world, but in FinTech overall.
