Elon Musk has another trick up his sleeve, and human microchipping might be next.

Though 2020 was one for the history books, 2021 is quickly becoming just as bizarre: citizens stormed the US capitol, cyberwarfare is taking place on a global scale, we’re still battling a deadly pandemic, and now monkeys are playing video games with their minds? You read that right, Elon Musk has another trick up his sleeve, and human microchipping might be next.

Neuralink, a company founded by Elon Musk, has recently implanted a computer microchip into a monkey’s skull, in order to connect it to its brain using tiny wires. This would allow the monkey to send messages to machines through its mind. This isn’t the beginning of a sci-fi novel, and the monkey wasn’t Elon’s first test subject. Musk has previously tested a similar set-up on three pigs earlier this year. I’m just waiting for Peta to comment, and I’m starting to wonder when the move from monkey to human is planning on taking place… I’ll stop before giving the anti-vaxxers more ammunition for microchipping vaccines.

Anyways… with this tiny microchip the monkey has been able to play video games with its mind. Unsurprisingly, this is all related to Elon Musk’s next big project— an implementable computer-brain interface. In other words, he wants to microchip humans… Now, before we get ahead of ourselves, we should be comforted that in the short-term this microchipping would be reserved for quadriplegics, who have experienced brain or spinal-cord injuries. It would allow them to control any device— like a computer, phone, etc.— just by thinking, which would mean huge improvements in their quality of life.

“Musk describes it as a Fitbit in your skull with tiny wires that go into your brain.” This device would allow information to leave the brain and enter a machine on a much larger and faster scale. Clearly some incredible developments could come from this, but is anyone else concerned what would happen if someone hacked into your personal microchip? Couldn’t you theoretically be “possessed” on a technological level?

Technology could allow humans to communicate to each other telepathically

Through this development, Musk says that one day this technology could allow humans to communicate to each other telepathically, and even create a “saved state” where memories could be stored after death, and eventually put into another robot, or human… Is this 2020 or 3020? I’m starting to lose track.
